OUT OF SITE, OUT OF MINDWhen we close on the purchase of a property that is going to be our primary residence, we are reminded to file for Homestead exemption. The rule is you have to be living in the property January 1st of the year you file. You can file anytime January through April. Sometimes we mean to do this, but we get busy and forget. This is just a little reminder. If you have filed, great. If you have not, you can call the Denton Central Appraisal Dist. 940-349-3800, and they will send you a form to fill out and send in. There is also a 65 and older exemption, and you can file for that one immediately upon qualification.

Recycle: Don’t throw away all those plastic eggs that accumulate each year, recycle them for next years egg hunt. There will be a box on Pat’s porch (1801 Sumac Dr.) marked eggs for the two weeks following the egg hunts. Feel free to drop empties off. It will help the environment and save some cash for more goodies next year.

Spring Garage SaleOnce again it’s time to clear out the clutter. The Spring Garage Sale will be held Friday April 22nd and Saturday the 23rd from 8:00am to 2:00pm. We will be placing adds in several papers and also posting signs at all the entrances and look forward to a good turn out. The rain dates will be April 29 and 30th.

Easter Egg HuntEaster comes early this year, so the Easter Bunny has been very busy gathering all the eggs she can from the Easter Egg Patch. Our annual Egg Hunt will be held, Saturday March 19th at Shadow Ridge Park PROMPTLY at 10:00am. Miss Easter Bunny will be there for fun and photos with the children. She’s bringing over 1,600 eggs filled with candy and prizes so everyone will have plenty to gather. Be on time because the eggs won’t last! A Look Back at The Fall Fling2004’s Fall Carnival was a huge success. Over 400 people gathered and enjoyed the Boogie Woogie Choo Choo, the ever so fun Haunted House plus plenty of carnival games and prizes. We even had a visit from the Flower Mound Fire Department who let the children climb and explore a real Fire Truck and ambulance. Over 10 gallons of chili and 300 hot dogs were enjoyed by all. It was so much fun that we’re going to do it again this fall with some surprises added. So mark your calendar (October 29th) and we’ll see you there. |
SRSHOA ANNUAL MEETINGThe annual meeting of the Association was held on December 3, 2004. Expenditures versus budget for 2004 were discussed as well as the budget for 2005.
The Board shared the data provided by a LISD representative regarding the middle school under construction on Spinks. The school will be named Shadow Ridge Middle School and is scheduled to open in August 2005.
Status and repair of the brick wall on Spinks was provided. It was noted that the rain earlier in the year had caused additional damage. Repairs will be made first on those items that are safety hazards. The Board advised that $4,000 was in the 2005 budget for the wall, and Brick Fix would begin the repairs as weather permits. Repairing the wall is the best alternative. Replacement is estimated at $80,000 not including demolition and haul away of existing wall. This would result in a special assessment of approximately $300 per household.
Two new directors were elected to the Board, JoAnn Klump for a three-year term and Rick Tuzinski for a one-year term. Lorraine Broomhall was reelected for a three-year term. |
SPEEDING AND ANIMAL CONTROL
Many homeowners are alarmed
at the continued speeding in the neighborhood.
Once again people are complaining of animal feces in their yards. Be considerate of your neighbors and remove animal droppings.
All garbage cans should be out of the public view. |
