Property Inspections
Each week the property manager inspects the neighborhood to help protect property values. Currently, the top 3 issues are: 1) Yard maintenance- is your yard nice-looking? Weed free? Curbs edged? Grass less than 6 inches tall? 2) Fence maintenance- is your fence in good repair? Is it evenly stained in a shade of brown or kept in its original color? (gray is neither) 3) Garbage can storage- Is your garbage can in the public view? A neighborhood with a neat and attractive appearance benefits us all, so take a walk around your home. Do you need to do some work?
Driveway & Sidewalk Maintenance
Our homes are getting a little older now, so we need to be thinking about maintenance. Some of us are starting to experience cracks and movement in both our driveways and sidewalks.
From my twenty years of experience in the construction business I would recommend the following preventative treatment as you
|
see cracks: 1. clean with high pressure water, then let dry completely, 2. seal with a gray silicone sealant applied with a caulking gun. Also check to see if the wood expansion joints have deteriorated on your sidewalks (between the squares) or between the driveway and the sidewalk or your attached garage. Home Depot or Lowe’s sell a product called backer rod, it’s a flexible round Styrofoam just for this application. To repair you: 1. remove the old wood, 2. stuff the backer rod down where the red wood joint was to approximately ¼” below the surface, 3. finish with the gray silicone sealer. A little work now will help protect your investment from future problems.
Pet Care
Please remember to pick up after your pets. There have been several reportings of droppings in yards, especially on Tree Line Rd. Please also ensure that your pet is not barking consistently in the evenings and causing a disruption for your neighbors.

HOME TIPS:
Clean out your roof gutters in the spring and in the fall after most of the leaves have fallen. Make sure downspouts are clear and positioned properly to move drainage and water away from the foundation. Prune shrubs and trees to keep them clear of the home’s foundation, exterior walls, and roof. Shrubbery that is to close to the house can promote the growth of mildew, mold, and algae.
School Start
Shortly, the schools in our area will open for the 2005-2006 session. This year, we not only have Bluebonnet Elementary, but also Shadow Ridge Middle School will open for its first session. For the safety of our children it is again requested that you do not park on the street between the hours of 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM. Speeding is a continuing problem—an accident waiting to happen. Please be aware that there are many small children in the subdivision as well as many school children that either walk or ride bicycles to and from school. |
Fall Garage Sale
Once again it’s time to clear the clutter! The Fall Garage sale will be held Friday September 16th and Saturday the 17th, from 8:00am until 2:00 pm. Rain dates will be for the following weekend, Friday the 23rd and Saturday the 24th at the same time. We do all the advertising for you, so set up a table or two and get rid of some of your unwanted items and make some money. As always your clutter is someone else’s treasure.
Fall Fling
This year’s Fall Fling will be held on Saturday October 29th from 3:30 pm till after dark and will not be a pre-trick or treat party as in the past years. Preparations are underway to make this year’s event more fun than ever. Putting together any event requires a lot of volunteers. We are always short handed so don’t feel like you’re not needed. Everyone is welcome from teenagers to grand parents and everyone in-between. If you’d like to put your creativity to work, help decorate the Haunted House or help set up and take down the games or even man a game booth. Call Me: Pat @ 972-691-9539. Join the team, WE NEED YOU! |
