Sidewalk Repairs

The Town has a Sidewalk Repair Replacement Program designed to help encourage proper sidewalk maintenance, maintain property values and assist homeowners with the cost of repairs.  Similar to many cities throughout Texas, homeowners are, and always have been, responsible for the sidewalks on their property.  In an effort to assist residents in need of sidewalk repairs, the Town adopted a Sidewalk and Replacement Program.  By using town contractors to perform repair work, combined with the Town’s volume buying power, the cost of repairs and replacement should be much less than it would be if an individual hired a private contractor.

In fact, one of our homeowners did contact the Town this past July and advised that the cost per linear foot was $22.67.  His 4’ x 4’ concrete would be $90 vs. $275 quoted by a general contractor.

The program allows homeowners to repay the Town over a 12-month period.  Residents may choose to have their payments added to their water bill.  The only interest charged is the interest that the Town is incurring for the money available in the sidewalk replacement program, which is funded through a general bond obligation.  For more information, please call 972-874-6330.

Complaints About Speeding

We have received various complaints from homeowners about cars speeding through their streets and concern for the safety of their children playing nearby.  As a homeowner’s association there is very little that we can do except forward these complaints to the Flower Mound Police Department.  We have found that there is a traffic complaint form on the Town’s web site at www.flower-mound.com where anyone can file their own complaint directly to the police.  There is a rectangle with an arrow that is labeled “E-Government” on the bottom of the home page.  You can click on the arrow and select “Submit A Traffic Complaint” from the list of forms that comes up.  A form appears with information to fill out about street, time, description, etc. for the police to use.  It would be better for you as homeowners to file these complaints directly in order to get a faster response from the police.  We hope that drivers will slow down and be considerate of the safety of others on our streets, especially now that school is about to start.  Incidentally, there are other useful forms on the E-Government list such as “Online Request For Street Light Repairs” that get quick responses from CoServ.

Fall Fling Volunteers Needed

The Fall Carnival will be held on Saturday October 28th from 4:00pm till dark at the Sumac Cul-de-sac. My health isn’t what it used to be and I’m not able to keep up with all that’s involved in putting on this event.

I also lost some of my key volunteers that have helped me out so much in the past. Volunteers are desperately needed. Without volunteers, the event will be much smaller or just changed back to the get together before trick or treating. If you’re willing to help call me, Pat at 972-691-9539.
