WATERING SCHEDULES AND SPRINKLER MAINTENANCE
The most recent water conservation announcement from the Town of Flower Mound divided the lawn watering zones geographically using 2499 as the boundary separating the west zone from the east zone. The east zone is allowed to water Saturday, Monday, and Wednesday. Either zone is prohibited from watering between the hours of 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. And remember that there could be a fine up to $200.00 if this is violated.
Checking your sprinkler system by cycling through it and observing each of your zones in operation is necessary this time of year because of the ongoing mowing and edging that can damage the sprinkler heads. If a sprinkler head malfunctions or is damaged it can cause a substantial continuous flow of water when your sprinkler system is activated and double or even triple your water bill. |

THINK SAFETY WHEN PARKING (STREETS AND DRIVEWAYS) Parking a car that blocks the sidewalk forces people strolling, running or taking the dog for a walk, as well as children biking or skate boarding, etc., to move into the street to pass. This is a safety issue for all. It also is a Flower Mound code violation. Parking in the street also creates safety issues, particularly when school is in session. A number of children walk or bike to and from school. It has been requested that cars not be parked on the street early in the morning when children go to school or during the hours they return home after school. School starts August 25, 2008. The streets in our subdivision are approximately thirty (30) feet wide. An average car or small truck with side mirrors is approximately eight feet or more wide. Add a boat ten (10) feet wide or more to that truck and there is a potential safety issue. There have been occasions where a car is parked on one side of the street and a truck with a boat is parked across the street on the other side. This does not leave much room for emergency vehicles such as a fire truck. Our subdivision regulations prohibit parking a boat, camper, recreational vehicle, etc. on any public street in the neighborhood. |

INTERESTED IN A NATIONAL NIGHT OUT BLOCK PARTY?
National Night Out is a nationwide initiative encouraging residents to turn their porch lights on and organize block parties sending a message to criminals that our neighborhoods are organized and fighting back. Texas is one of two states to reschedule this event from the first Tuesday in August to the first Tuesday in October in order to get more neighborhoods to participate. The event will be kicked off locally with an Open House at the Flower Mound Police Station, 4150 Kirkpatrick Lane, at 5:00 pm on October 7th with neighborhood block parties scheduled from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm. Neighborhoods that organize National Night Out Block Parties will be eligible to compete for the annual Flower Mound Neighborhood of the Year award. The winning neighborhood will receive a street sign proclaiming the neighborhood as the 2008 National Night Out Neighborhood of the Year. Registered block parties could receive visits from members of the Town Council, the Flower Mound Police Department, Fire Trucks, the Fire Department Clowns, and McGruff the Crime Dog. If you are interested in forming a committee to plan a block party for this event contact the HOA manager with your contact information. The deadline to register with the Town of Flower Mound is Tuesday, September 30, 2008. Visit www.natw.org for more information and block party ideas. |
